On November 7th, 2009, Sensei Derek tested for 3rd degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate and was promoted under the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association (WKKA) in Baltimore, Maryland. The judges included President of the WKKA, Grandmaster Joe Palanzo and Master Frank Trejo.
